Dear coffee lovers, A year full of exciting events is drawing to a close. In the past months, we have experienced so much, met countless wonderful people, and made significant progress in our "mission" to improve coffee quality in this country. It's high time to take a look back: Relocation to the new roasting facility In January 2013, we moved our roasting facility to new premises. With even more space and "peace" for roasting, we doubled our production volume this year while further enhancing the quality of our green coffee. Expansion of our coffee range Throughout the year, we intensified our collaboration with farms and cooperatives in El Salvador ("Nombre de Dios"), Tanna Vanuatu, and Honduras ("Café Organico Marcala") and made our coffee range even more exclusive. Through close cooperation with befriended roasteries at home and abroad, we were able to offer our guests and customers varieties that would not have been available through wholesalers. In the new year, we will continue to expand these collaborations. Erste Tegernseer Kaffeerösterei on TV In February, we hosted the show "freizeit". The episode titled "Schmidt Max und die Rückkehr des Filterkaffees" (Schmidt Max and the Return of Filter Coffee) was one of the most-watched "freizeit" episodes of the year and was a lot of fun for us. The appearance on "Wir in Bayern" with Sabine Sauer was also a real highlight. Success for our barista André Gabriel Our barista André Gabriel also achieved great success: accompanied by BR, he became "International Tyrolean Latte Art Champion" this year. He is currently diligently training for the Swiss Barista Championships next year with the goal of winning and potentially flying to the World Championships in Australia. Outlook for the new year: Several exciting events are already planned for 2014. Due to its great success, we are currently working on a continuation of the series "Schmidt Max und die Rückkehr des Filterkaffees". In this show, our customers and their questions about coffee will be the focus – a detailed announcement will follow soon. Additionally, a trip to the "Cup of Excellence", a coffee training in Malaysia, and one or two coffee farm visits are on the agenda. Important information for the turn of the year: • "Felix" will be closed from December 23, 2013, to January 1, 2014, inclusive. On January 2, we will be refreshed and ready for our customers again! • The last shipping day of Erste Tegernseer Kaffeerösterei is Friday, December 20, 2013. With a bit of luck, your Christmas order will arrive under the Christmas tree in time. Shipping will resume as usual on January 2, 2014. I'm now on my way to Upper Franconia for the inauguration of the visitor center at the "Klein-Eden" Tropical House, and tomorrow I'll be brewing the first "Klein-Eden" Tropical House coffee harvest, which I had the exclusive privilege of roasting, for our Minister President Horst Seehofer using a Hario filter.
